Why You Don’t Have To Change The Oil In Your Car

“What I don’t need to change my oil?” oil change

“I always change my oil, every 3,000 miles or 3 months.” That’s what the petroleum industry wants yon to think. The truth of the matter is that your oil can last up to ten times longer than 3,000 miles. The oil in your car doesn’t break down but it does get dirty. It is the dirt in the oil is what causes the wear and tear on your vehicle.

As the dirt builds up the friction increases from the many particles. The filter that you are using does help to keep the oil clean but it isn’t fine enough to keep the smaller particles from getting into your oil. The oil itself is still good. If you were to rid your oil from all of the particle then you could easily use that same oil for another 3,000 miles or so. But if you used a filter that kept the oil clean then you could easily use your oil for 30,000 miles or more.

aloeplantHappy Earth Day you gorgeous thing you.
With your lovely green meadows and oceans of blue.

You’ve got birds and fish and mammals and bees
You’ve got flowers and sunshine and clouds and trees.

So why I wonder, do we treat you so bad?

You’re the only Earth we’ll ever have.

We should look after you and take greater care
We need clean water, clean land and clean air.

So to ensure a place for our children to play
We should make Earth Day every day!

Happy 40th Earth Day! Remember to make every day “green”!

Eco-friendly Easter Tips

easterbunnyEaster is a ton of fun but can create an ethical dilemma for anyone trying to help save the environment. I’ve never really thought about it before reading this article, but Easter is not a very eco-friendly holiday. All the chocolate bunny packaging, fake plastic grass and egg consumption from styrofoam cartons, create tons of waste! Also, let’s not forget the gas to get to our Spring Break destination.

I found some great tips from eHow about ways to reduce frivolous waste and still enjoy the Easter holiday. Follow some of these tips.

1. Reuse a hand me down Easter dress. You can opt for the bonnet too.
2. Buy candy and gifts with minimal packaging.
3. Use last year’s Easter basket this year.
4. Buy Organic eggs for dyeing. The use food coloring and vinegar to dye them.
5. Don’t buy plastic grass. Make your own with shredded paper or even better use natural straw or hay.

Hope these tips help you hop into an Earth-friendly Easter!
